The Harz system is visited first with both passenger and freight workings. The 2-10-2Ts feature supported by 0-6-0T 99 6101 shunting passenger stock and freight at Wernigerode. Up into the mist enshrouded mountains with activity at Drei Annen-Hohne, Tietenbachmuhle and Eisfelder Talmuhle. Nordhausen depot and Wernigerode works are visited where Mallets undergo repair. Roadside running sees a 2-10-2T leaving Nordhausen with the 16.07 departure. Stiege is visited with the evening 'peak' seeing three trains in action including 2-6-2T 99 6001 leaving for Alexisbad. The Selkatelbahn sees this loco again along with the depot yard at Alexisbad and a 2-10-2T departure for Harzgerode. Roadside running near Magdesprung is followed by another Harzgerode departure behind 99 6001. Evening steam drifts up through the valley with activity near Eisfelder Talmuhle. The smoke polluted works complex at Kloster Mansfeld sees O & K 0-8-0T number 9 performing its tasks. Oschatz-Mugeln witnesses three Saxon State Railways 1VK Meyer 0-4-4-0Ts in action. The Weisses Ross flat narrow gauge and tram line crossing in Dresden plays host to a steam hauled passenger train followed by action between Dippoldiswalde and Kurort Kipsdorf. Close-up roadside running takes the route back to Dippoldiswalde. Finally, the standard gauge is represented at the '150 Years of Long Distance Travel' celebrations held in Riesa featuring several different classes of steam locomotive.
